Let me a add some thoughts to this topic since it has been touched on lately. I've been with many people in my 30 years in business who are huge success stories in life, whether it be by measure of their wealth, their business status as Chairman of the Board, CEO, Pres, etc., or family, role model, community service, church, you name it. I've been in the Board rooms and other settings when things happened that was crushing bad news and saw how they handled some horrible situations, sometimes business related, sometimes very personal family situations.I learned a lot over the years from those kinds of people. Those folks were positive, problem solvers, proactive and forward thinking. They didn't whine, cry, bitch and worry. I noticed a common trait over the years with these types of winners. They all had a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Don't recall ever seeing one of them quit, give up, slack off, or be negative with a can't win attitude. Those people had a profound impact on my life. They were not pie-in-the-sky goof balls. They were realists. They new when things were bad. They weren't dummies. But, the difference was they had the guts to meet challenges as opportunities with a positive dogged determination attitude. Each individual makes their own choice how they will act and view things. Personally, each day I get up, no matter how bad things are, I make a conscious decision to be positive as much as possible.... no matter what. It is my election to do so. It is hard sometimes, but I work hard to do it. It helps me in all walks of life to have that attitude. Ask Invictus..... I've also been around losers. They whined, cried, belly ached, bitched, always had a negative spin, a "yeah but" attitude. They are awful to be around. Made others around them miserable. Many were failures at life, period. Many of them seemed to never even be thankful for what they did have, either. In fact, in many instances, it seems as though they made a conscious decision to be negative regardless. Sad. I am firm believer that we are challenged in life periodically. I also firmly believe that to survive those challenges you need a positive, never give up attitude. Further, I believe my views apply to investing as well. Helps me make better decisions and keep things in perspective. Anyway, just my brief thoughts on positive versus negative attitudes. No matter how bad things are, someone around you is a lot worse off. I am thankful for every day. I don't take a thing for granted. I'm tickled to death to have my life and family. I'm not going to waste this life being negative and I want to have a positive impact on those around me as well, especially setting an example for my family. RR
