The shortages over the short run could result in products that are even more in demand, much like popular children's toys at Christmas. However hanging in the back of my mind is that I've heard similar complaints about capacity in other industries (hard disk drives, DRAM) only to find the industry faced with an oversupply of inventory a few months later. Memory makers may be like home builders or beavers- they just can't resist making more, and SCND will probably eventually be in a cyclical business

Hawk,

I read the article you posted on managing fab capacity.
Some smaller companies in high growth semi sub-sectors need to
manage capacity outside of traditional fabless relationships.
The hard part is guesstimating the size of a the fab you can afford and manage
and then trying to get analysts to agree that the business model works.
