<but in reality.. probably based on Intels Volume shipments. Sometime in March 2001, volume that is.>

Are you talking about Wilamette or the 1.13G PIII?

Let's see how this production line works:

Do Wafer starts to support 20M PIIIs
Run some lots for the fast corner and pick some real fast corner lots
Get a few hundred parts.

- Drive down Tj
- Drive up V
- Go from FCPGAs to Slot 1
- Add a beefy heatsink
- Add a couple of fans
- Run tests
- Lose the suckers that refuse to get there
- Pre-announce the product
- Disable marginal speedpaths that don't look too good
- Ship half a dozen chips to reviewers
- Ship the remaining parts to Dell/IBM for a limited consumer launch

Yup! That should teach 'em folks at AMD who the leader is.

Now Goutama can run a survey on when we will see a real volume production version of Socket370 1.13G PIII. Do you think Duron may get there first?

Now, folks, as humorous as this launch was, there is a lesson here! If Intel wants to give the perception of leadership there are resources to make it appear real.

These guys could go to slot form factor or ship a heavy duty cooling device with Wilamette for all you know.

Bad couple of weeks for the stock! I think we should be prepared to get beaten down whenever there is bad flash news or processor news. Are there still souls out there who think it makes sense for AMD to have flash? I say, spin it off. Take a minute and write to AMD management if you feel strongly (nice, peruasive letters).

The product lineup for the next 12 months and financial fundamentals are too strong to be ignored for too long. So, cheers, in due time, we will creep back up.
