Scott,

An interesting set of assertions but at odds with the way the industry has generally behaved.

i.e. Front End.

1. Fab orders equipment
2. Equipment gets delivered, installed, calibrated, and ultimately enters production.
3. More wafers are processed

Then it's the Back End's turn.

1. More wafers to be processed.
2. More Assembly, test and packaging equipment is ordered.

When a slowdown occurs in the backend after a demand fed spurt, this is a very good indicator that Front End fab capacity has been consumed; that more Front End equipment is being ordered to add to that capacity.

All the same, we'll see the typical knee jerk reaction from an analyst community that steadfastly chooses not to understand the industry it covers. And a lot of babies will be thrown out with the bath water this morning.

FWIW,
Ian.
