The fellow who was prevented from posting was done so because he repeatedly violated one of the very simple rules of the thread. It wasn't a "no posting bad things about AMD" rule. I believe he broke the "no bastardization of people's names with intent to enrage" rule. This is not an unreasonable rule. If somebody named Pork_Futures logs on and starts posting, and then you address this person in several posts as "Pig_F*ck*r", then you are not being a nice person and you are contributing to a tense atmosphere which will likely lead to conflict. This is what makes the current unmoderated AMD and Intel boards often stupid (no offense to the posters on those boards, but in either case the fault is on the side of the people from each respective "opponent" board (eg, the SI:AMD board's problems are from "Intellabee" posters from SI:Intel, and the SI:Intel board's problems are from the "AMDriod" posters from SI:AMD). Anyway ... the SI:ModAMD board was a really great idea, and it has so far hasn't lead to action against anybody based on investment opinion -- the one person who was punished for violating did something that any malicious poster on any side could have done, and his punishment was very light in my opinion. This person looked at the rules, said "I like insulting people instead of being nice", and accepted the risks of his actions. Please give the moderated board a chance. The Moderator hasn't yet done anything bad as a moderator (he's broken his own rules slightly, but so has most everybody else, and he's basically nice enough to be a total pansy about minor offenses). The SI:ModAMD board is a lot nicer to read than this board, by about the same degree that the SI:AMD board is nicer than the Yahoo:AMD board (apologies to Yahoo posters, but the signal to noise ratio is awfully low there). I personally think that somebody at SI:Intel should make an SI:ModINTC board with similar rules. I would gladly be an avid (though rule-fearing) poster there, and many lurkers who despise conflict like I do will be lining up to contribute. :) Ciao
