I find this discussion about home networking PCs interesting. I networked two PCs using pre-packaged RJ45 cable, and a $30 hub. My old PI (133Mhz) had a NIC installed by "the cable guy" when my @home service was installed. My new one had a factory installed NIC.

It took me, maybe, 1 hour to get the network running, including a link from the hub to the @home cable modem. The hardest part was calling @home to get a computer name for my new computer.

Now both computers have access to the cable modem, we are sharing printers, and a few files. I am running McAfee's personal firewall (another no brainer).

No big deal.
