Darrell - RE: Head in the sand - I was not talking in general, but about my info from IDC on server unit growth.

We have seen a similar pattern on several of the tech stocks right before earnings. Remember the SSB analyst, Gardner, who said CPQ would miss rev and earnings, only a few days before their earnings? And the Semis?

Still, it amazes me that a couple of comments could move a stock like DELL this much. My views on DELL's likely performance the rest of this year are pretty well known and I have no intention to adjust my thinking or position, especially now. In fact I am probably going to take a long options position today - probably the Nov 47.5 calls. Seems like a no-brainer way to make some good money. None the less, I am looking for the factors that may be countering the generally rosy projections from management in the minds of analysts and investors.
