Promote from within - which implies the available "pool" is the current employees. The "current employees" come from another pool - the universites (mostly) and primarily form the science and engineering departments. Now I ask you AGAIN - what per cent of the graduating engineers from US universities at the BS, MS and PHD levels are female ? Look back historically. Do you think that 50% is the right answer? Paul
