you touched upon why i like to trade (i do have some core buy n' hold, but i do reduce positions in the core acct)

in bull market buy n' hold is great.. no fuss and we make money

but in a flat or down market -- trading works better.
also, last 3-4 years, the deep declines were followed by sharp rallies (ie: bull market condition)

but what if this pattern fails and we stay down for awhile?
(flat/bear mkt)

for big accounts, i prefer to have trading/long term positions.

but if you have small acct, then trading only since protection of capital is extremely important.

Shamasee,

I dont use the ROC, but am aware that some do. Im really a short-term trader and the ROC appears to be more of a mid-term indicator.

Maybe someone else could comment on the ROC
