Tejek - re: "Must sound familiar to you though....its a lot like an Intel launch. I hope AMD is not picking up bad habits."

Intel learned it from the master - AMD !!

On the bright side, AMD can use all that fab capacity to ramp up the 64 bit SludgeHumper that the YUK Wretchedster assured us is already being sampled and will be introduced "any day now" !

Paul said: "So, I logged on the net to find that AMD's SOLD OUT DURONS (what did they do - sell out all SIX OF THEM !!!! ??? TM - SCUMbria) will not be available for me to buy for my son as he goes back to school. Pity."

Actually.. if Paul really wanted to buy a Duron for his son, they are out there in smaller computer places.. (and if as someone told me Paul lives in Canada as I do.. he should know IBM Canada is selling a Duron system) and he has some computer know-how . he could just order the Duron and a mb and whatever else he needs to do a simple upgrade -- or he can go to a computer store (you dont need to wait on a "BIG" OEM to order em.. besides.. you get better pricing at your "chop shops") and ask them to build one up for him.. or .. he can go here:

So really.. Paul has no excuse not to buy his little junior a Duron... they're out there (I got my Duron 600 and Asus A7V Motherboard upgrade myself on Monday.. it roars along compared to my old K6-2 400.. great CPU)

Not big stuff like Paul's and the like. And just for the records. Got assigned 500 at $59.9375. I wish this is the bottom.
