Dan Scovel--Needham & Co.--CNNfn 08/03/00 on alsc

Mr. Scovel recommends shares of semiconductor companies AMD, CY and ALSC. He points out that AMD's products have been competing well with Intel's products for the last year. However, investors' "skepticism" has not allowed the share price to go as high as it probably should. "We think there's some good opportunity there," says Mr. Scovel.

He also sees an opportunity in CY stock. Its core business is "very, very strong," and Mr. Scovel feels the stock could double from the current price.

Small-cap company ALSC's core business in the SRAM and DRAM markets is very strong right now.
