David. How soon did Via have advance data on which to base their designs? I have to think AMD gave them lots of lead time, however until the finals prototype parts are shipped Via is tied to printed stuff, which may not be good enough as first runs of simulator based parts made to silicon are often suboptimal, and then another round is needed..and more? I am sure they would never go ahead until they were ready, they have seen the multifooted intel beast dancing on many shot feet for too long now to do that.
I think it was just a case of taking the time to do it right to avoid taking the time to do it over.
