Leap also will unveil the next 10 ten markets slated to offer Cricket service: Tucson, Ariz.; Little Rock, Ark.; Wichita, Kan.; Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Tulsa, Okla.; Knoxville and Memphis, Tenn.; and Salt Lake City, Utah. Eight of these markets are expected to launch by the end of calendar year 2000.

I added up the combined populations of each of these markets from the following site....

census.gov

I came up with 3.23m POP's for the cities proper and 7.65m for the metropolitan areas (I'm not sure what kind of coverage Cricket will supply). Depending on which number you use and the speed of penetration....it looks like Leap could be adding anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 customers a quarter. Considering they only have around 50,000 customers right now, they will be growing at an astounding rate....

A replay of the conference call will be available shortly after the call through close of business August 10, 2000. The conference call will also be rebroadcast telephonically by dialing (800) 633-8284 (domestic) or (858) 812-6440 (international).
Callers can enter the following reservation numbers:

Reservation #15914341 (Welcome Address and Yankee Group Presentation)

Reservation #15915036 (Executive Panel)

Reservation #15915111 (Cricket Customer Panel)

I listened to the Yankee Group Presentation and the Executive Panel parts on Sunday. I found them very useful and informative. It's not just about Cricket but about wireless internet and CDMA's future. I recommend listening to it if you haven't already. Both presentations are long but worth it.
