SAO PAULO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Brazil's regional fixed-line
phone company Brasil Telecom , formerly Tele
Centro Sul, posted a net income of 79.3 million reais in the
first half of the year, the company said in a statement sent to
the Bovespa stock exchange.
Brasil Telecom posted the following preliminary,
consolidated results for the first half of 2000:
H1 2000
Net profit 79.3 mln
Net worth 6.336 bln
Net sales 1.770 bln
Oper profit 269.8 mln
NOTE: No comparable figures were provided. All figures are
in Brazilian reais and are reported according to Brazilian
accounting methods.
Brasil Telecom is owned by Telecom Italia and
Brazilian financial group Opportunity.
