** OT ** Life imitates art.

Whilst travelling this summer, passed a new housing development near a ferry terminal (there are lots of ferries in BC). The big billboard said of course...

"If you lived here, you'd be home by now".

Firesign theatre took real elements of the LA scene. Incidentally, do you know the origin of the "shoes for the dead" skit?

I used to hang out with a draft dodger from LA when I lived in Edmonton. Do you have any idea how cold it gets in Edmonton? Neither did he. We used to go to the local "Fullers" restaurant because it was the only place that reminded him of LA.

Anyway, "shoes for the dead" refers to the corpses sent back from Vietnam. They always removed the shoes. "What chance does that deceased war veteran have of getting a swell job in heavy industry without shoes?", etc.

Hey, I'm making money today. Gotta run.
