The Guard is frequently called to active duty at times of conflict. In the Vietnam War, several ground units were called up. During the Korean War, the Air National Guard had a number of units called up. To serve in the Guard was a lot like serving in the reserves, and not knowing if you would end up in Vietnam. The only thing he insured by a National Guard enlistment was that, if he were called up, he would get the kind of duty he wanted, and if he were not, that he would have lighter duty than in the reserves.

I am sorry that I missed last weeks Parade, I had guests. I will see if it is still in the house. It doesn't much matter, though, the point remains that he stopped drinking long ago, it is a dead horse........
