Ten,

I think Intel doesn't really consider Tom's Hardware Guide to be a "serious PR problem," especially since Tom has a long history of being rather negative to Intel.

Rambus dropped about 15% one day after a negative Tom's article. If I remember correctly, Tom reported that PIII/PC133 systems were faster than PIII/PC800 systems.

Ten, >Actually, I think Intel doesn't really consider Tom's Hardware Guide to be a "serious PR problem," especially since Tom has a long history of being rather negative to Intel. I can understand that, given that this is still just an "enthusiast's web site" and not a major online journal like CNET or ZDNet. But on the other hand, I don't think Intel should just dismiss Tom's claims, either, and I doubt they are.

Like you said in another post, why doesn't he send it back for analysis, like every other customer that got a faulty part would. Tom probably has a little collection of "hostage" parts like this.
