Nothing in this world is ever locked in.

The concept is soothing, and illusory.

There are always conditions.

What is confusing and frustrating to some is that standards will be defined and led by first movers.

Europe is on the bench for at least two years. Playing with dreary GPRS and EDGE.

Asia will define wCDMA standards. In its own image.

Asia must deal with QCOM - or so the courts stipulate. Pity Europe can't say the same.
