Whole new series of digital cameras being released right now for the upcoming holiday season.

I am particularly interested testing the new 2.0 megapixel Kodak DC3400 and DC5000. They also have a 3.3 megapixel DC4800. Kodak continues to promote the CF standard.

Pentax and HP are co-marketing a new digital camera with 2+ megapixel resolution. The exteriors appear to be different, but the "guts" are the same. These will also use CF.

Fuji has the FinePix 4900 and Olympus has its new C490 which is similar to prior 400 series models except with a 2.1 megapixel resolution. The Fuji and Olympus cameras use SmartMedia upto 64 MB.

This will be the year of the sub-$500 2.1+ megapixel camera.
Many 2.1+ megapixel cameras are now in this price range.

By 2001 the 3.3 megapixel cameras will hopefully drop down to this price range and 2.0 megapixel cameras will hopefully drop below $400 by then.

Exciting stuff!!!
