** OT ** Actually, something I did was used by Gore.

I used to work for the Canada Climate Center and my job was to do the 'policy runs' on global warming. I left in 1997 because I was bored stiff doing it, but things were well in hand by that time.

In 1998, Congress was debating climate issues and none of the American centers had a completed study (with realistic ocean dynamics) ready. This is mostly because they are overly bureaucratic and have too many people doing too many things. Canada had one person. Me.

So, my results made it to the floor of the Senate, presided over by none other than Al Gore himself. He later gave a speech afterwards outlining the need for greenhouse gas emission abatement. Ain't gonna happen in our lifetime, kids.

The results we got were embarrassingly good. By pure serendipity, they 'predicted' the global drop in temperature 1935-1960 and the exact increase 1960-present.
