The GSM contingent may indeed go WCDMA. But let me ask you this...what if WCDMA is NOT ready to roll by 2004 or even later, in which direction will operators tend to sway toward?

Frankly, I HOPE WCDMA will begin rollout starting next year. I'll be one happy Q investor.

2002? Doubtful. As we progress further into the future, the more likely WCDMA committed operators will begin defecting toward the proven technology. Once a few operators in Fortress Europe defect, the rest of the WCDMA committed world will begin migrating in mass.

Your argument hinges on timely WCDMA deployment. Mine hinges on a 'late or never' argument. Everything I've seen or read indicates WCDMA rollout is NOT gonna be timely.

We'll see what happens.
