Chuck,

And these infrastructure problems are largely behind us except for the Athlon/Duron laptop side. Let's see how well that gets handled.

Yes, there may be a reasonably stable KT133 chipset out there, but once again we will have a question of how many. Via has been acquiring more capacity, but we have to remember that AMD is a second priority for Via (of 2). It's strange, but one thing that makes me feel better is Intel 815 chipset. I hope Intel sells millions of these, so that there is lower demand for Via's Pentium chipsets, and there is some capacity left for Via's KT133 chipsets.

The good thing is that this awful situation will last only until Q4. By then, we should have multiple sources of chipsets and some competition.

Q3 should be ok. Q4 should be great. The real competition will start in Q1 2001, when the capacity will catch up with the demand, and AMD will have to compete more on the merit of it's chips, price, marketing and customer loyalty.
