Super Montage is supposed to increase trade transparency and depth of liquidity. Its impact should reduce the number of locked and crossed markets, but as far as I know it has yet to be implemented. It should help all market players, at least in theory, by reducing message traffic, and force the MM to either fill or move immediately (no time delay while the MM decides to execute or not). This should help the individual investors. Gene might be able to help more on this though.

Hi Gene,

i have a hypothetical question for you.
what would happen if a market maker was short a lot of stock in a small company. then this market maker were to go out of business.( chapter 11 ) now there are many more shares out there, then there should be, because the market maker had shorted this small stock. are the market makers insured? if i owned stock in this company, is my broker responsible for the shares they say i bought and are in my account?
i have no idea if this is happening,( or if it could even happen ) but i would call for my shares in this company, if i thought i could possible get screwed ( for lack of a better word )because there now would be more shares outstanding then the company really has outstanding.

thanks for you time,
paulie

RE: SUPER MONTAGE, Nasdaq's New Trading System Won't Show and Tell All.....

this sure does not sound too good for the little guy, seems the industry is trying to stiffle the indiv. investor once again. Information is KING..and if it is not on a level playing feild... I worry about the legitimacy of the true intentions for this new system.
