Hi Heinz,

I know , i have seen that rumor on the Gold Forum as well. It would attempt to a coup d`etat i think as both GOLD and FN are fervent non-hedgers and seem to have CEOs that understand the situation the mining industry is in very well. I particularly liked the speech FN`s ceo made shortly before the merger with GOLD was announced on the importance to retain talent in the industry. This is key i think. As well they have proved to be forerunners in the consolidation game and i would not be surprised to see them attempt a take oever of Ashanti. This is getting interesting, sort of like guerilla tactics at the moment.

the proposed FN/GOLD merged entity will be a most interesting
combination...could make obscene amounts of money if we should ever get a rally in gold
prices again (a remote possibility one should not rule out entirely...-g-).
btw, while Thompson denies it, the rumors that GOLD is in negotiations with the technically
bankrupt hedger ASL won't die down...the eventual covering of ASL's hedge book in case GOLD
took ASL over would amount to an ambush on the accumulated leasing/shorting scam position.
i fervently hope they'll do it...
