I do not think our ultimate responsibility is to be happy, certainly not in the sense of pursuing gratification......

"For what's the ulimate responsibility we all have? In my view there's only one answer: to be happy."

You know FS I do like your service oriented philosophy. Even though, it is a bit shallow and you have this new age smoke screen wrapped around it. Were you a boy scout? We use to call this doing "good deeds".

Oh well. Lots of people go to bars just to "be happy" and wake up the next morning with nothing but regret. Most people who seek immediate gratification while neglecting their responsibilities find them selves full of despair over the irresponsible acts they committed while giving no thought to the consequences to themselves and others.

Some of the times I experience happiness, have been as a result of hard work and attention to relationships (service oriented BTW). Frankly, it is a constant struggle to live up to my responsibilities, commitments, and obligations. I wouldn't have it any other way.
