This is disputed. 3 of the top 10 DRAM manufacturers have agreed to pay Rambus royalties on DDR (a higher percentage royalty than is paid on RDRAM). Rambus states that it believes all SDRAM and DDR ram manufacturers must pay royalties, and that it is in negotiations with some of them.

The shorts and bashers here claim the Rambus patents are invalid. The longs believe in them.

Its a judgement call what the outcome will be.
