Rarebird,

Cardin Drake has been prescient. His predictions have been remarkably accurate. Take them very seriously.

The following is my opinion only and it is also anecdotal...

I went to my local BestBuy today. The 8 MB to 32 MB CompactFlash inventories were thin to non-existent. SanDisk had only one 32 MB card for sale and three (3) 128 MB cards. (I have never seen 48 or 64 MB SanDisk cards available at retail.) Simple Technology has had a steady supply of cards. There were several 32 MB cards left under this brand name. The 48 MB and 64 MB cards (priced $150 to $200) are still too pricey. There is a lot of Lexar inventory in this capacity range.

The counter guy told me that Sony Cybershots were popular. They are priced as follows...

1.3 megapixel $499.99
2.1 megapixel $599.99
3.3 megapixel $799.99

I didn't find these Memory Stick Digital Cameras to be slow at all. Some have stated that Memory Stick write speeds were rate-limiting. This may be negative propaganda aimed at Sony. Click-to-click times were satisfactory.
