Has corporate american gone looney? WHY would a beancounter deserve that kind of money? Unbelievable.......

I wonder what the NT CFO makes. Can't imagine it's anything close to this amount.

I have been dissapointed by LU and didn't sell out before the current drop because of tax concerns. I came into LU by way of ASND, and it seems as if they are going downhill. I don't believe unionized companies can compete in today's environment. If you look at the majority of today's successful high tech companies, you don't find many unionized. It's hard to get rid of your dead weight. After working with the Government union bureaucracy, anyone who can see why these telecoms are failing. They can't control costs the way the nimble companies can. I'll hold on for the spinoffs and see if they come back, but if not, I have to go. The purpose of this post is that if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the company but you want to hang on, vote off the directors when the next proxy for renewal of membership is distributed. It doesn't appear that the new CFO is doing much good even though in fairness, she hasn't had much of a chance, and probably isn't very aware of the technology, which needs to be fixed in order to make the sales and profits. knc

speaking of tech packages Tucker, when I start looking at a company one of the first things I do is see what the big brass is getting in pay and other. About a year ago it saved me from buying CA - i think they get the prize for the most comp given to top management - each of the principals awarded themselves something like 650 million in bonus - the highest for any US company. I am long on TYC but was not happy to see what the CEO awarded himself either. Sometimes is a good indicator of what to avoid.

Another Lucent Executive Resigns Amid
Restructuring

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - news)
said on Tuesday that Patricia Russo, executive vice president and chief
executive of the service provider networks group, resigned as part of the
company's restructuring plan to jumpstart slack profits.

The Murray Hill, N.J.-based company, which recently lowered its revenue
and profit growth outlook for the rest of the year, is combining its service
provider networks and corporate groups as part of a larger strategy that
also includes spinoffs and restructurings to focus on high growth markets.

``As Lucent changes the structure of its business and the role of CEO of
the service provider business goes away, I have decided that the time is
right for me to pursue other opportunities outside of Lucent after assisting
in a transition process,'' Russo, who was one of Lucent's highest ranking
female executives, said in a statement.

Lucent Chairman and Chief Executive Richard McGinn said he is opening a search for a chief operating
officer, to help in the effort of focusing operations on mobile Internet networks and high-speed Internet
access.

Last week, Lucent said that optical group president Harry Bosco would step down as part of a move to
restructure that unit following manufacturing and product introduction problems that hurt profits in recent
months.
