If you are on short term options - roll em over into sept or october.

Kash, the problem with that strategy for me is that my short term options will barely pay for the commissions if I sell them. If you count both the sale and the buy commssions. I have GTC orders to sell most of my August options, but they might not be hit.

"Are you long the stock or just playing options and are you on margin."

Kash johal,
I am long the stock. Fortunately, I am not on margin and I have never been playing options.

kash, that sounds like good advice for him. What about leaps if he is a long term investor?

But at any rate I think you are right. What he needs is protection to the downside and if he has not already sold covered calls he can get some by selling out of the money options further out like you said.
