I am not familiar with their rulings. The principle is clear, though. Only what can be reasonably inferred from the words of the Constitution, sometimes supplemented by contemporaneous records helping to shed light on intent, and with an eye on precedent and dicta from the court itself, should inform a ruling. Since the Constitution prescribes capital punishment for treason, it cannot be per se un- constitutional to execute. Since the Constitution stipulates circumstances, such as warranted searches, where privacy can be breached, there is no absolute right of privacy. Etc.........
