Oz,

I honestly don't mind being associated with them and really can't follow your math at all. They have used a sliding price scale based on registration date since the first Expo so I don't see what is different about this one.

And I definitely would not recommend someone go and just hang around the exhibit hall. The decibel and snake oil level will turn your brain into jello real fast. I couldn't handle more than 90 minutes of it during my entire NY trip.

It's a mistake to think that the educators can really make a direct buck teaching these tutorials (not that you personally are saying that). If we push our personal products, we won't get invited back. There is so much competition for minds that our little 90-min gigs are quickly forgotten even when they are first rate. Few of us see major increases in any sort of sales from these presentations. Of course, it gets our names out there and we may pick up a few new friends but that's about it. Don't even see much of a pickup in site traffic afterwards.

The 3 reasons that I do it is (1): I like the organizers a lot and support their effort to create something new for equity traders. (2) I get to see a lot of former students and site friends and (3) I like my name associated with the other names you see on the schedule.

As for "one of them", I know you mean it lightly but one of my major efforts is to work on my personal and my site's commercial partnerships. I'm pretty committed to MB Trading, Trading Markets, McGraw-Hill my publisher and a few new associations that I hope to reveal in the future. And HRE's future is closely tied to a number of folks and organizations in Southern California.

Alan

$364? $464? By "full-blown thing" do you mean with the dinner?

Today it was $399 without the dinner (dinner is $65 extra), and $499 as of Saturday.

I'm assuming that it WAS $299 without the dinner before some previous cutoff date?

Damn, this think keeps up-ticking!

If you feel like chasing it, it must be time to short! :)
