I like independent woman, Bia, and Aunt Nancy is a gentle but formidable spirit. Dominate her? I have to stay on my toes or I find myself 50 yards behind her. You paint a pretty dismal picture of retirement. In the best sense, it's about achieving financial goals and having the luxury of being able to devote time towards achieving personal ones. The level of money required can be quite modest if finances are structured appropriately. The degree of imagination required, though, is high. I'd encourage you to widen your circle of retired acquaintances. uf I'd recommend "The Millionaire Next Door" by Thomas Stanley and William Danko as a good read and a way to gain understanding of the process of wealth accumulation. Defense wins championships.
