c.horn, mine says "Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by MSN". At least MS owns MSN. :)

I made the mistake of loading IE from a CD from Ameritech once. Ameritech wouldn't take it's hooks out even when I installed a "pure" IE on top of it. Finally found the registry entries to get rid of it. It's just one or two lines, wonder if I can find them again.

Explorer 'enhanced' by ISPs ...

If all they changed is the title that appears at the top of your window, like my ISP did, you can simply edit out the change and even add something personalized for yourself easily enough.

In REGEDIT, get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Internet\Explorer\Main

Here, in the right pane (pain?), highlight and right click [ab]Window Title. Select Modify and just type in what pleases you. With all changes using REGEDIT, they take place immediately, so you just need exit: No need to Apply, or anything similar.

If you're not totally confident in using REGEDIT, be sure to back-up your registry first using System Information/Tools/Registry Checker and click Yes to making a backup.

If this works for you, give me the credit: If your system gets totally messed up, blame yourself.

Cheers, PW.

Horn,

Another way to do this is to NOT install the software form the ISP. You can create your own dial-up or network connection and enter the settings the ISP requires. These settings hopefully will be found in tech support on the ISP's website.

Cheers,

Alex
