You may not be able to forget or dismiss your experiences, but there is always time to put them into a new context. (or at least until you reach the Ronald Reagan stage). Now if you were hanging out with liberals you could have a laugh if you were hit on by a gay man if you were straight, or get a date if it was gay and gay, or just get a blank stare if you had some stoners over for the evening.
