It should be an interesting week coming up next week. I would be surprised if the group percentage performance is down again next week - but stranger things have happened.

I have been keeping records of these stocks, including the group performance since April of 1997. The loss of the last 3 weeks, for the group, of 32 percent is the worst performance ever when each week in the string has been consecutively down. There have been 3 periods where the performance has been close (loss of over 30 percent, but less than 32 percent). These periods (where the group performance was consecutively negative on a weekly basis) were:

10/10/97 to 10/31/97 - 3 week period
4/24/98 to 6/19/98 - 8 week period
4/28/00 to 5/26/00 - 4 week period

7/14/00 to 8/4/00 - 3 week period - 32 percent group loss

In the first three periods, the week following was an "up" week for the group performance. The week increase for the week following the 3 periods was 4, 6 and 30 percent respectively.

We should have a good chance for the group to go up next week, if not, the group performance will clearly stand alone as the worst ever since April 97 ( and I suspect, the worst ever since this group category came into existence)
