Bert-- Have you spent time in RAMBO's jungle? I believe JC was pointing out the delusional nature of many of the posters there (i.e.: post was not to be read literally). They've had the RDRAM market share figures revised down on them about five times over the last year by each of the three companies that makes projections/forecasts, but still claim that SDRAM sucks, DDR is a foil and/or vaporware, and RDRAM offers a superior solution for common workloads on today's machines. Moreover, they seem to be totally oblivious to the nature of engineering-- especially the fundamental theme that you can make some factor of a product much better but not make the overall product better because the factor you made better wasn't a bottleneck and you lowered the performance of some other factor in the process.
