Credibility, She is one of the best CFO's in the business world. LU had to pay up to get one of the best. Who would want to leave Seattle (Boeing) for New Jersey (Lucent)? GregM at Microsoft was known as a great CFO and brought credibility to mr softee. She brings credibility to LU's balance sheet, which has been under attack for a few years now. I'm a balance sheet kind of guy, and I want someone who is one of the best at monitoring expenses, DSA's, and s/t & l/t liabilities. I believe that most CEO's, and management officials would agree of the importance of this issue. Especially to a company that the street has lost faith in. But what do I know? Will LUcy go under 40 today? Where in the 30s LUcy is considered a long term "BUY"? Lucy is going through what IBM went through a few years ago. They need a new CEO, who comes in and fires 1/2 of the people, including the incompetent upper management, and turn this run away 18 wheeler around. The company has simply way too much FAT!!! The company is loaded with technical talent, but absolutely no management or business talent. Hey they may even ask Mory Hejabat, of formerly our beloved Ascend to take over as CEO?????? You will never know??
