advalorem,

Schwab purchasing Value Line would have been an outstanding strategic move

Actually, I would have looked unfavorably upon the deal if it had of happened. Nothing against Schwab, but one of the main reasons I like and trust Value Line is that their analysts have no hidden agendas. They are pure buy-side analysts.

If Value Line were to be owned by or affiliated with any brokerage, then I'd always be suspicious if they had any hidden motives. As it is now, I trust them implicitly. They may not always be 100% accurate with projections and numbers and stuff, but I trust that they're giving us a 100% effort to do right by the subscribers. And that trust in them means a lot to me.

For some sad reason, I don't relate to individuals making $50 million a year that only have to work 6 months of the year.

I know exactly what you mean. You and I have to work hard in the markets to get that paltry $50M to $100M every 6 months. And along come these athletes with these inflated salaries for a half-year's work. Let them make it in the markets like we do. And that reminds me, congratulations to you on passing Bill Gates on the Forbes Secret 400 List. Yeah, Gates gets all the ink, but we make the real money. <g>
