Advalorem,
I'm not an accountant, so it probably wouldn't do me much good to read the article, but if the CFO is supposed to build the stock price, it doesn't appear that she was very successful.
RE businessweek, Any magazine that has Bill Wolman as their chief economist isn't worth buying.
As far as arguing, grow up. I posted reasonable thoughts and am not worried if you disagree.knc

Hi ad and everybody,
I am new to the thread and apologize for any incompetent remark on LU. Have been thinking about buying, but the PE of 40 still seems a bit rich. However, the stock has been sliced 50%. Merrill Lynch has written, as usual, extensively and insightfully about the spinoff, eps release etc
What puzzles me though about the potential value from the spinoff is that the optical business would be valued tens of times revenues.
I appreciate very much the importance of cost control in all businesses, and esp. technology, but it seems to me that Lucent will win or lose depending on the technology, all else should be very secondary.
best regards,
Alfredo
