You know Tom Wolfe, at least as the author of "The Right Stuff", about the beginning of the space program, or the novelist who wrote "Bonfire of the Vanities". He used to write articles and essays on American culture for several papers and magazines, and they were collected in various books. The "Kany Kolored Tangerine Flaked Streamline Baby" was one such collection. It was named after the lead article, on the subculture of customized cars among teenagers. The other thing I mentioned was an essay in that collection, I believe.......
