Re: What is a tray processor? An OEM processor. Bulk processors are shipped in anti-static plastic trays that are molded plastic with square cut outs that the processors sit in. It protects them during shipping. Dan

Tony - Re: "What is a tray processor? " This is industry jargon for the processors to be placed on shipping/handling trays - often for automatic insertion into PC boards - with perhaps 10 or more per tray. The processors are just that - processors - with NO HEAT SINK or fan assemblies. Those must be provided seperately by the manufacturer. The other method - BOXED PROCESSORS - implies a CPU with heat sink/fan assembly attached and it - are you ready for this? - comes in a BOX - preassembled !! These are used for small customers, on-line retail, etc. Paul

Re: Sun will be far too expensive in WSs and small - midrange servers, IMO, No Mas. Compaq and Dell will kill them if they try to go there. Read what you get, then check the price at the end. It's not bad for a "real" server, instead of a glorified PC (not my opinion of the things, but it is the opinion of a very large number of information systems people out there). If you compare prices, don't forget to include server software. You'd better not count SUN out quite yet.
