While surfing the Q&K thread, I came across a post which linked an interview with Paul Johnson.

Message 14165406

Since SNDK is likely a future Gorilla, this interview is worth reading. Even though I believe SNDK is grossly undervalued here, an appropriate thought from the interview to keep in mind going forward is

...We also say don’t get too worried about valuations because a Gorilla will always outdo your expectations for how valuable it can become...

Interview with Paul Johnson can be found here.

Aus - There is still a shortage of most popular densities, from 4 Mbit to 64 Mbit devices. ASPs have surged by as much as 50% or more on some densities. Lead times are running into as many as 20+ weeks for most densities. This under-capacity situation is expected to last into 2002.

Hmmm.......

Best regards,

L

Hold on now..Don't throw that term around lightly. A gorilla must have a few things from what i remember.

open propietary architecture?
high switching costs?
Have/already had hypergrowth?
Mass market?

How do they have a open proprietary architecture? Maybe, if digital cameras and mp3s players that had a CF slot only took SNDK compact flash cards, then that could be a open proprietary standard..

Or if Sandisk could receive royalties from all the CF players..
