LOL, JW ... TX mileage:

Houston => Austin: roughly 150 miles.

Austin => Dallas: roughly 185-200.

Houston=> Galveston: 90 miles

Austin => San Antonio: 75 miles

Austin => Laredo: 250 miles or so (5 hour drive)

Austin => Corpus Christi: Same as Laredo above.

They don't call it "Central Texas" for nuthin'.

Now, if you wanna go to El Paso, that's ONE HELLUVA long drive ... passing through some fascinating terrain ... different than any place I've ever been ...

That would be on the way from Austin to Albuquerque, perhaps to see the famous 'el' and 'el's girl.'

(When you come from the east on I-10, you enter TX from LA at Orange. The first mile marker reads "893," meaning it's 893 miles to El Paso, where I-10 leaves the state. Big state, indeed.)

Good to see ya!

And, 'come on down!' PS: Weather 'cools off' a little bit anyway generally mid-late Oct ... Nov for sure. Still VERY MILD even then ... PPS you do any fishing? Salt-water? The reds 'run' on Texas Coast in Sept ... I can check that out more specifically ... I went coupla years ago ... San Luis Pass ... guy I was with caught 300-lb sting ray ... took hours ... these friends of mine go all the time ... various locations along TX coast.

Hi Jim,

Missed ya whilst you were gone buddy. Dallas is not a short commute if you are going to make frequent trips - like 200 miles - a little over 3 hrs. It is a fairly easy drive until you get into the traffic in Dallas. Ugh! Houston is about 170 miles, however, if I recall, it takes longer to get to Houston. FWIW, San Antonio is about 80 miles away - nice city to visit.

Sounds like you might be considering moving there?? Austin is a great town. Too hot for me 6 months out of the year though. I try to get there once a year to visit some dear friends from my middle school years. Maybe we can do lunch next time I scoot down there.

Sorry to hear about your account haircut. Something tells me, Jim Willie will still end up being successful in the end. You seem to have identified past success & failure unemotionally and factually to get at the root cause. I bet you will be applying the lessons learned with greater frequency as you move forward. You got the upside pretty well figured out. Being better at identifying the down side & knowing when to sell, especially when leveraged, is where you need to improve (as do most investors - this jackass wannabe included). Ya, I think you will do just fine.

Glad you are back Jim.

Tim
