D.E.--You'd better switch from DLJ to other brokerage firms. It looks like that they over played the game by keeping your COMS shares in a week for themselves. Yes, it took a bit longer to get the cash part of the distribution. But your COMS shares should be able to be credited into your account immediately after the distribution day. Unbelievable! How can they do such a thing!

When the Palm shares still weren't in my account on August 3, i sent them and email. My shares showed up on the 4th or 5th and they responded with an email to let me know. I was disappointed that i had to email them to get some action, but they have always been responsive to my email/phone calls. I hope you gave them HELL for the margin call, YW and IBM deals. Sometimes you have to demand good customer service to get it, even with a well reputed company like DLJ Direct. Take it easy, Dorine.

Dorine,
If you're sure your margin call was due to DLJ not keeping up, then you should stay after them and work your way up the chain of command 'till you get to somebody with some authority. They should reverse that IBM sell but you'll have to convince somebody pretty high up. The first person that answers the phone probably doesn't have the power to help you.
One question in my mind though would be how long after an IPO might it take for an issue to be marginable? Could it be that PALM shares wouldn't have helped even if they were posted? Your YW probably doesn't help either, since YWAV wouldn't have.
Good luck tho...Alski
