I just want to make a distiction here,

The "semi cycle" - the claim is that manufacturing plants (fabs) are/have been over built and companies will be flooding the market with exess chips coming from too many fabs. This is an oversupply problem, not a demand problem!

The Mot news (or non-news) was the cell phone demand was falling. That doesn't prove the SSB report.

In fact, there are so many contradictions in what CNBC says that sometimes I just end up laughing despite my losses.

Based on what I see recently in this link No one is talking about LSI; CNBC (Maria?) gives us her professional view (where does she come from?) professing stock expertise. Lets get back to some basics and get back to a mission of more objective comments, eg. is LSI worth a long position of 10,000 SHARES AT THE MARKET tomorrow?

As a matter of opinion I am backing my decision with a view of $75 near term and $145 longer. Any comments???? Who wants to be a millionaire?
Jack

Even analyst Joseph wouldnt have said that the Motorola news ended the cycle. He said cycle would peak next year.

Regarding the debate as to whether the cycle is over or not, I think Bob Brinker said it best on his program when he asked "Who cares about the cycle when your stock has lost 50% of its value in a matter of weeks or months?". (Actually, in LSI's case, it is close to 65%, and the decline from 60 to 30 happened over 7 or 8 trading days). Brinker added that when you see meltdowns in your stock, it doesn't matter what anyone says about the cycle. And I agree fully with that. It doesn't matter as to whether the cycle is over or not.

Stock prices in cyclical industries can peak well ahead of their financial cycles. The present semi cycle might well have another year left but that is no assurance that the stock will make new highs, or even get anywhere close to its previous highs.

The point is -- when the valuations get to nosebleed levels (there was a time in late Feb - early March when LSI rose by 50% in just a couple of weeks or even less) you have to take at least some money off the table. But it looks like it is a little too late for some people now.
