What happens when the flash disk gets full? Do you transfer the files to a computer? Or if you have a camera with flash disk, do you transfer the photo images to an online storage facility? This latter procedure seems to be what Kodak is leaning toward. Thus, flash memory capacity, even in its highest resolution cameras, would need to be minimal if there were a convenient way to upload the images by wireless to an online site. If the flash memory contained in the MP3 player or the camera is seen as just a temporary facility to hold images before transfer to a computer at home or online, then, as you suggest, there might be less need for removable flash cards. As far as cameras go, I don't like an intermediate host facility. I like the flexibility of storing my images on removable cards and downloading periodically to more permanent storage. I can envision numerous instances where there would be no convenient online facility, and even if there was such a facility, there are probably some storage costs that the user would have to cover. The only possible advantage I can see for embedded memory of limited capacity in a digital camera is possibly lower cost, giving the manufacturerer of the camera with embedded memory a slight advantage in lower cost. But that advantage is outweighed by the convenience and flexibility of removable flash memory.

ES - Well all I would say is that one has to imagine many of us who use cameras and leave them in the cupboard for weeks if not months an then bring them out as we go out of the door and expect them to work. My guess is that one would be much better off with CF doing the storage than anything else. OK everyone there is ActuaryfromCA over on Yahoo and he just posted a guess on EPS for nextqtr at 40c - 45c per share. Well if thats the case then the run rate is approaching $2 per share per annum. Now that make the P/E about 28. OK why not EPS grow for SNDK for ever and the stock price remains fixed in the $50s. Hmmmmmm well maybe this time next year with a P/E of about 10 on 2002 earnings they will start to pay dividends!!!!!!! Best regards, L
