I could support #4. #5 is clearly Undemocratic. Would you like to prevent Governments and CB's from buying the Japanese Yen, British Pound, US Dollar, or Swiss Franc too, Richard? Gold is a Currency that trades inversely to the US Dollar. Governments have a right to enter the futures markets and short Gold futures too even if their gold reserves are depleted! If individual traders can do this without owning any physical gold, why can't Governments do the same?
