Interesting observation, Richard. Maybe in this vibrant economy the use of gold jewelry is spreading downward to consumers who in the past would have had none. The 10k junk may be ugly, but it is nevertheless a use of gold. Maybe an increasing second-tier gold jewelry market is replacing what used to be non-precious costume jewelry. Maybe someone in the trade could comment on this thesis? I'd love to see gold jewelry use rising, 10K or better, in the US and overseas.
