``The feature-rich Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500 by Sanyo offers clear connectivity to the Sprint PCS Wireless Web and the convenience of hands-free, voice communication,'' said Charles Levine, chief sales and marketing officer for Sprint PCS. ``We're pleased to offer yet another innovative and top quality wireless phone by Sanyo. The Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500 continues the successful evolution of Sanyo's product line, offering our customers nationwide quality phones at affordable prices.''

``The SCP-4500, with its integrated speakerphone and unique Sanyo Interactive Voice Package, offers a revolutionary combination of technologically advanced, yet simple to use features that are sure to please today's ever more demanding wireless customer,'' said Isaac Levy, group vice president, sales and marketing for Sanyo Fisher Company's Communications/Information Technology Division. ``Sanyo is pleased to have worked with Sprint PCS to develop this, our third and most feature-packed CDMA handset platform for the U.S. market. We have more than met our goal of building unsurpassed voice recognition tools into a menu-driven phone that provides easy access to the Sprint PCS Wireless Web.''

The one-touch, built-in speakerphone coupled with the clarity of Sprint PCS' nationwide wireless network ensures that the other party can be heard clearly and conveniently. This feature is ideal for holding hands-free conversations in the office, at home or in other traditional mobile environments. In non-mobile applications, the Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500 can stand up on end to optimize its use in a conference situation.

Sprint PCS and Sanyo have thoroughly addressed the needs of mobile professionals, engineering simplicity and safety into every aspect of the pocketsize, dual-band Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500. The combined integrated speakerphone and Sanyo Interactive Voice Package means safer use on the road. Customers can easily view menu selections with the phone's large, high- resolution blue electroluminescence display.

Sprint PCS is the first to deliver a wireless phone with Sanyo's Interactive Voice Package, which employs advanced voice recognition technology in its voice-activated dialing services. To place a call, Sprint PCS customers can simply speak any of up to 30 pre-programmed names. Additionally, the voice-announce ringer will voice-announce the name of any incoming caller whose name is programmed in the 30-name/number voice dialing memory. Voice memo can record and store up to ten 30-second memos, ideal for dictation or fast notes on the run. Sprint PCS customers can even record the other party's voice, eliminating the need to search for a pen and paper when phone numbers or directions are provided.

The Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500's electronic organizer provides a wealth of personal productivity and information management tools. The integrated scheduler/calendar will schedule up to 100 events, the to-do list will prioritize up to 20 different projects/items, and programmable alarms will audibly alert the user to as many as 15 calendar items or scheduled calls.

Tegic T9® predictive text entry minimizes key presses and substantially simplifies entering text when using calendar and to-do list functions. Using an internal database, the system automatically scans possible variations to determine the correct word. For example, entering the word ``call'' will take just four key presses rather than 10 key presses required by conventional ``multi-tap'' text entry.

Building on Sanyo's leadership position in battery technology, the Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500's advanced, energy-efficient design and improved Lithium Ion battery technology combine to provide (in digital mode) up to four hours of talk time and 288 hours (12 days) of standby time with the standard battery. The Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500's optional, compact extended battery can provide up to 7.5 hours of talk time and a phenomenal 432 hours (18 days) of standby time.

The Sprint PCS Phone SCP-4500's thumb-operable, mouse-type multifunction navigation key makes it easy to select menu items, including access to the Sprint PCS Wireless Web. Simply view the display, make a selection on the phone's MiniBrowser and connect to a full-breadth of Sprint PCS Wireless Web services including Yahoo!, America Online, Amazon.com, CNN.com, Bloomberg.com, eBay.com and The Weather Channel, among many other popular destinations.

Key features also include: easy, menu-driven operation; 6-line display (5 lines text, 1 icon); built-in calculator; 300-name phone book; call history function (keeps track of the 10 most recently placed, received and missed calls); 3-chord melody plus ringer; vibration ringer; environmental control (preset ringer, volume and display settings according to various surroundings); headphone jack; and full access to Sprint PCS Wireless Web services.
