I wouldn't want to guess who's most virtuous here; I certainly wouldn't propose myself.

I have some experience of the ways of humans, and my experience is very consistent on one point: those who proclaim their virtues loud and often are generally the first to dump those virtues by the wayside when the going gets rough. For that reason, I tend to avoid those who preach their own virtue, and if they presume to lecture me - or others - on virtue, I get a bit short with them. I don't expect that such habits qualify as virtues, but then I never claimed to be virtuous.
